These were the first waterfalls we came to. Not very spectacular but for
day two on the river, interesting enough. They did not rise more than
fifteen or twenty feet (three or four meters) above the river. Probably
during the wet time of the year they did not exist since the river level
rose to the tree line - the level of the falls. We had lunch, took pictures
and explored. Some of us swam a bit or attended to personal hygiene like
washing hair. It was a hint of things to come.
Next stop was the great and fabulous Mayan city, Piedras
Negras on the far side of the river in Guatemala.
